Background

Ziegler’s Bolt and Nut House, now in business for over 40 years, is a major supplier of fasteners. Ziegler Bolt has over 100 employees and maintains an inventory of over 72,000 normally stocked items in six locations throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  They are processing approximately 10,000 invoices a month.  The main facility is located in Canton, Ohio and their main warehouse has over 90,000 square feet housing millions of dollars of inventory to serve their customers with quick, on-time delivery of orders.

The Solution

In 2003, Ziegler Bolt replaced their Faspac system with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions - Navision). Ziegler selected Microsoft Dynamics NAV for its ease of use, for its advanced distribution management functionality, and for the local support and customization provided by Wolcott Group.

Under Ziegler’s direction, Wolcott customized Dynamics NAV to match Ziegler’s nomenclature for naming their fastener products and to accommodate specialized pricing methods. More recently, completing the execution of Ziegler Bolt’s technology strategy, Wolcott Group implemented ExpandIT Internet Shop to provide Ziegler Bolt’s customers with a secure portal into Microsoft Dynamics NAV for catalog and inventory inquiry, including customer-specific pricing, online order entry and inquiry, as well as access to order and invoice history.

Originally conceived only to provide access to Ziegler’s catalog over the web to avoid the high cost of printing and distributing their catalog, the ease with which ExpandIT Internet Shop’s commerce functionality could be implemented, even against a customized Microsoft Dynamics NAV implementation, allowed Ziegler to enable the complete Internet Shop commerce portal well ahead of the original schedule.
